About Me

I am Jason.  I am a Land Use: Urban Planning major.  This is my first blog ever.  I am excited that I was able to select Ethiopia.  This is a country that I know about through one of their major exports...coffee.  Actually Ethiopia is considered to be the birthplace of coffee.  Ethiopia is on the continent of Africa and there are some unique characteristics to the coffee that comes from Ethiopia and many other African countries.  These countries process their coffee different than those grown in S. America and Asia.  Ethiopian coffee first, is a much smaller bean. This is due to Ethiopia having less annual rainfall than most S. American and Asian coffee growing countries.  Also they dry their beans with the fruit still attached, which ends up giving Ethiopian and other African coffees fruity or citrus overtones.  I am interested to uncovering how climate change is effecting this region and hoping that the people and the coffee industry will not be hindered.
